Social Media
This was the first piece of content shot on a phone and used in UNHCR communications — raw, authentic footage of Rohingya refugees arriving by boat, captured directly by field staff. It marked a turning point: no more waiting for camera crews, just real-time storytelling from the ground. I championed this shift and helped embed mobile capture into our emergency workflows, a practice now widely adopted across crises.
It reflects the kind of creative, responsive approach I bring to all my work. From emergency responses to Olympic campaigns, I’ve led social media content and strategy for global organisations, growing audiences and turning complex issues into content people actually want to watch and share. I’ve built mobile-first video strategies, launched new formats, opened new channels, and developed strategic partnerships with platforms and publishers to expand reach and impact.
A few highlights from my social media work:
Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics
Led UNHCR’s global social media strategy for the Paris 2024 Refugee Olympic and Paralympic campaigns. Reached over 156 million people with 300 posts from our global channels, and 3,000+ regional posts.
1 billion Video Views
As lead social video producer, I launched the World Economic Forum’s first social video strategy, at a time when social video was still emerging among publishers.
It was a bold, innovative shift driven by audience insights and performance data, helping the organisation surpass 1 billion views and achieve major growth across platforms
Mobile-First Video at UNHCR
Built and rolled out UNHCR’s first mobile-first video strategy — the first of its kind in the UN system — delivering over 560 million views annually. I designed workflows that enabled a global network of editors to produce more than 500 videos a year, translated into multiple languages and tailored for different platforms and regions.
Launched TikTok & WhatsApp Channels
Launched and managed new platforms for UNHCR, including TikTok and WhatsApp Channels (each reaching 1M+ within months!). We were among the first humanitarian organisations to establish a presence on these platforms, using them to reach younger, more diverse audiences with timely, impactful stories.
LinkedIn Newsletter
Launched UNHCR’s “Humanitarians at Work” LinkedIn Newsletter, spotlighting behind-the-scenes stories, field insights, and voices from across the organisation.
It grew to over 800,000 subscribers and became one of the UN’s top-performing newsletters on LinkedIn.
Webby Awards Winner
UNHCR’s collaboration with YouTube earned us a Webby Award for the original series We Were Here, a campaign pairing. influencers with refugees to share their stories. I supported both the production and led the social media strategy.
Mobile filming in emergencies
The first phone-shot footage used by UNHCR, capturing the arrival of Rohingya refugees in real time.
This raw, authentic format set a new precedent and is now widely used across emergencies as a fast, effective way to document unfolding crises.
Partrnerships
Crafted UNHCR’s first social media partnership strategy, then led collaborations with platforms and publishers including TikTok, LinkedIn, AJ+, Pubity, and Feminist.
