About me
Hi, I’m Sylvie!
I’m a communications strategist and digital content producer with over 15 years’ experience helping organisations tell better stories and reach more people.
I’ve worked across the humanitarian, public and private sectors. I’ve launched social media strategies at UNHCR and the World Economic Forum, and produced content for brands including Disney, Nivea and Bacardi. Along the way I’ve built workflows, led teams and shaped content for everything from global emergencies to major events like the Refugee Olympic and Paralympic Teams at Paris 2024 (that’s them in the photo above!).
If you’ve ever stopped scrolling for one of the World Economic Forum’s short videos, you’ve seen where it started for me. I set up the Forum’s social video work, and within a year our content was reaching over a billion views.
At UNHCR, I launched our TikTok and WhatsApp channels from scratch, and both passed a million followers within a few months. I also created our first global social video strategy, and our videos went on to reach more than 560 million views in a year. More recently, I led content for UNHCR’s biggest fundraising campaigns, including Winter and Hardest Hit, a campaign on refugees and climate change. I also wrote UNHCR’s first ethical AI guidance for communications.
I love testing new things, whether that’s a new platform, a new format or a new way of telling a story. Some work brilliantly and some don’t, and that’s how you find out what really connects with people. I’m as happy writing a script as I am sorting out the logistics of a shoot, and I’ve worked on everything from human rights and climate to commercial campaigns.
Fluent in English and French, I’m also a mum of two and happiest when I’m spending time in the mountains.
Where I’ve worked
“Sylvie, I'm so pleased you took the leap and came to UNHCR. You played a fundamental role in transforming UNHCR communications in an era of huge global disruption in the information environment, winning the trust, confidence and enthusiasm of colleagues across the world, from field to HQ. Your passion and commitment to help refugees through the power of storytelling was always your superpower: your work made a real difference. It was such a pleasure working with you - thanks for everything. All the best for whatever you do next - I've no doubt you'll continue to excel!
“Sylvie, your data insights truly revolutionized our approach to social video, but what really wows me is the way your deep compassion and boundless creativity comes across in everything you do. Whoever hires you next is about to hit the jackpot.”
Chris Reardon, former Head of Multimedia Content, UNHCR
“Whilst at Toast, Sylvie showed herself to have an excellent work ethic and strong interpersonal skills. Sylvie was able to build strong relationships with her team and clients, her problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making made her a valuable asset to the company. I am glad to have been her employer, she was great fun to work with and have no hesitation in recommending Sylvie to potential employers.”
John Gradwell, Managing Director, Toast TV
“Sylvie is a joy to work with. She brings over a decade of experience developing innovative social media video and communications materials that have set a standard for communicating about humanitarian crises. When she arrived at UNHCR she gently but brilliantly transformed our entire approach to video. She is inspired and collaborative, a rare combination. This makes her a brilliant manager and a great team player. Sylvie will always be the most humble person at the table, but can usually be relied upon to have the best ideas.”
Sybella Wilkes, former Head of Strategic Comms, UNHCR
“I worked with Sylvie at the World Economic Forum. I know her to be highly organised, creative, and diplomatic. She also loves a challenge, has loads of mental stamina, and is a great team player.”
Mark Jones, former Head of Digital, World Economic Forum
